How food, grocery and alcohol delivery works in Santa Teresa, Mal Pais and Playa Hermosa in 2026: the SIPP app, direct delivery from Eat Street and The Bakery, Market & More, Tipsy, fees, hours and villa tips.
There is no Uber Eats, DoorDash or Rappi in Santa Teresa. Delivery runs on a local app called SIPP (9am to 10pm, card payment only, 30 to 60 minutes), a handful of restaurants that deliver themselves, and grocery and wine services that work on a weekly or next day schedule. A delivery from Eat Street costs 3,500 colones inside Santa Teresa and up to 11,500 colones out at Manzanillo, and SIPP shows its fee at checkout before you pay.
The short version
For hot food tonight, open SIPP, pin your exact location, and order from one of the 20 to 40 minute restaurants. If you want Eat Street, order straight from its own site, where the fee depends on your zone. The Bakery has its own delivery and takeout menu and a WhatsApp number. For groceries, Market & More does a weekly refrigerated truck run with a Tuesday morning deadline, and Autentica and Feeling Pura Vida stock a villa fridge before you arrive. For wine and spirits, Tipsy is the wine shop with a delivery list, and Market & More adds beer and wine to a grocery order.
This guide is about getting food to a door. The grocery shopping guide covers the supermarkets themselves, and the best restaurants guide covers where to sit down. Delivery is a good fit for tired arrival nights, rainy evenings in green season and villas up the hill where a dark road is not worth the drive.
SIPP, the local delivery app
SIPP is the closest thing to Uber Eats in town. It is based in Santa Teresa, runs through a website and app, and connects you with restaurants, cafes, bars and grocery stores and uses its own couriers. Its site says it delivers to Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen, Mal Pais, Playa Hermosa, Hacienda Okra and nearby areas, and its how it works page extends that to Manzanillo and Santiago. Nosara is listed as coming soon, which is not this coast.
The rules, taken from its FAQ and terms:
- Regular delivery hours are 9am to 10pm, seven days a week, although each restaurant has its own hours and a restaurant shows as closed when it is.
- You pay through the app by card. The terms say cash payments are not accepted, and if your card is declined the support team can send a payment link.
- The delivery fee depends on distance and appears before you confirm the order. Prices on the menu are set by each restaurant.
- Typical delivery takes 30 to 60 minutes. Orders can be tracked under My Orders, and service may pause in severe storms.
- Support is on WhatsApp at +506 7044 5484 and at support@sippdelivery.com. If your address will not save, message them and they will fix the pin.
The listings I checked on the site show a minimum order of 8,000 colones (about $15) for most restaurants and 6,000 colones for Gaucha, the ice cream and snack shop in the Playa Carmen mall. Restaurants on SIPP include Nami (sushi, 11:30am to 10pm, 40 minutes), La Choza (Costa Rican food, 100 metres north of Ronny 1, one hour), Las Rosas at Playa Carmen (11am to 9:30pm), the Kooks Sandwich Store next to Kooks (9am to 10pm), Somos Night, Coyote and Super Santa Teresa for supermarket essentials. The sushi guide notes that Satori also delivers through SIPP.
Menus change, so treat that list as a snapshot. Who it suits: anyone with a card and a data connection. The caveat: card only, and a late order in a storm can be refused or slow.
Eat Street, direct
Eat Street is the food market on the main road, across from Selina's north, with four vendors under one roof (NoMad Tex-Mex Kitchen, Agave, Happy Bowl and Sunrise Cafe) and a single ordering page. The restaurant is open 7am to 10pm. Delivery hours are shorter, 12pm to 9pm daily, and the site publishes a fee by zone:
| Zone | Minimum order | Delivery fee |
|---|---|---|
| Santa Teresa | 2,000 colones | 3,500 colones |
| Eat Street Upriver | 2,000 colones | 5,500 colones |
| Playa Hermosa | 2,000 colones | 6,000 colones |
| Mal Pais | 2,000 colones | 6,000 colones |
| Mal Pais Centro | 1,000 colones | 8,000 colones |
| Manzanillo and Santiago | none | 11,500 colones |
You order online for delivery or pickup, and the phone number is +506 8862 9124. One visitor describes ordering a mahi mahi wrap, a poke bowl, guacamole and chips and a burger to their Airbnb and calls delivery "a literal miracle that day". Who it suits: groups where everyone wants something different, because the menu spans tacos, bowls, burgers and smoothie bowls. The caveat: the fee is a flat charge on top of the food, so one small order from Hermosa costs more in delivery than the food.
The Bakery
The Bakery is 100 metres north of the crossroads and open 7am to 10pm seven days a week. Its site has a Delivery and Takeout page with pastries, gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads and smoothies, and the number is +506 8683 5353. It publishes no fee or delivery area, so ask when you call. It suits a rental where breakfast should arrive without a drive. The bakeries guide and the brunch guide cover the pastry side.
Pizza, Italian and sushi by WhatsApp
Pizza is the usual delivery order after a long day of surfing. Amici advertises delivery and an online store on its Linktree, and Nami lists +506 6140 7313 on its own site. Pronto Piccola Italia in Plaza Wave opens at noon every day with WhatsApp +506 8455 8037, and it began life as a takeout counter. None of the three publishes a delivery fee or zone, so message the number and ask for your address before you order. See the pizza guide and the Italian guide.
El Facon is listed as temporarily closed in our directory at the time of writing, so confirm before you plan a steak delivery.
Groceries delivered
Four services deliver groceries, and each one is built around a different habit.
Market & More is the largest, with more than 4,000 products from produce and meat to prepared meals and PriceSmart orders. Orders close at 8:30am on Tuesday (organic produce until 8pm), a refrigerated 4x4 truck takes the 4am ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera, and delivery reaches Santa Teresa on Thursday. Their route covers Cobano, Santiago, Manzanillo, Playa Hermosa, Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen and Mal Pais, then Montezuma, Tambor and Los Delfines. Their number is +506 8544 9885. Delivery fees are not published, so ask.
Autentica (eatauthentica.com) stocks a villa fridge before you land. Pre-order for your dates, or reorder by midnight for delivery before 5pm the next day. It sells curated baskets and a drinks bundle of beer, wine and spirits, and works with property managers. Tel +506 7129 5494.
Feeling Pura Vida (feelingpuravida.com) shops from your list and delivers to your accommodation. Its page shows a service fee of $25 to $35 per list, with the grocery bill extra. Several property managers and villas also take a shopping list as part of their service, and the property management guide explains who offers it.
For a few items at short notice, SIPP's Super Santa Teresa (Ronny's) covers essentials with a 40 minute estimate and 8,000 colon minimum.
Wine, beer and spirits
Tipsy is the wine shop and importer on the north end, 400 metres north of the football field in Plaza Kahuna. It is open Monday to Saturday from noon to 7pm, carries wine, spirits and craft beer, and links a Tipsy Deliveries 2026 download on its site. Phone +506 8462 5799. Reviewers on the listing call it the only place to buy proper wine in town.
The Liquor Store Santa Teresa is in Plaza Coral at Playa Carmen with the number +506 8779 9729, but it publishes no delivery policy, so call to ask. Market & More and Autentica add beer and wine to a delivery. A service called StayRunners advertises a chat bot and 24 hour alcohol runs in Santa Teresa with cash on delivery. How it works is unconfirmed, so treat it as an option to test with a small order, not a service to plan around.
Delivery to villas up the hill
The roads above Santa Teresa and Mal Pais are steep dirt tracks, and addresses are directions, not street numbers. A few habits keep a delivery from failing:
- Drop a Google Maps pin in the app or send a WhatsApp location. Feeling Pura Vida suggests including the house name and the pin, and working with the delivery service directly rather than phoning the restaurant for hard to find rentals.
- Check the fee zone before ordering. Eat Street's fee rises from 3,500 colones in town to 6,000 for Hermosa and Mal Pais, and SIPP shows the exact charge at checkout.
- Expect to meet the driver at the gate in rain. A courier on a motorbike will not always go up a flooded track, so offer to come down.
- Put your phone number on the order. Couriers call when they cannot find the house.
If you want a cook rather than a courier, the private chefs guide lists the people who come to your kitchen. For a first night, the first time guide covers what to buy before the shops close.
Delivery in Montezuma
SIPP does not list Montezuma. Pizzeria Chelo in Montezuma shows an express delivery number, +506 8817 2179, on its site, and Market & More's weekly route includes Montezuma in the afternoon. See the Montezuma restaurants guide for places to eat in person.

FAQ
Is there Uber Eats or DoorDash in Santa Teresa?
No. Uber Eats and DoorDash do not operate here, and Uber itself is not available in Santa Teresa. The local alternative is SIPP, which delivers to Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen, Mal Pais and Playa Hermosa between 9am and 10pm, plus restaurants that deliver directly such as Eat Street.
How much does food delivery cost in Santa Teresa?
Eat Street charges 3,500 colones inside Santa Teresa, 6,000 to Playa Hermosa or Mal Pais, and 11,500 to Manzanillo. SIPP shows the fee before you confirm and sets a minimum order near 8,000 colones. Restaurant prices sit on top, plus the usual 13% tax.
Can I pay cash for delivery?
Not through SIPP, whose terms say payments are electronic only. Eat Street takes online orders, so check at checkout. For WhatsApp orders to pizzerias and bakeries, ask when you order, and keep colones for a tip to the courier.
How late can I order food in Santa Teresa?
SIPP's regular delivery window ends at 10pm, and Eat Street's delivery hours end at 9pm. Most kitchens stop by 10pm. After that your options are a restaurant open late, such as Somos (to midnight) or Tikiliano, or pre-ordered food in the fridge.
Does grocery delivery to Santa Teresa work?
Yes. Market & More delivers weekly (order by Tuesday 8:30am for Thursday delivery), Autentica restocks a villa the next day for orders placed before midnight, and Feeling Pura Vida shops from your list for a service fee. Pre-order before you arrive for the best selection.
Can I get wine or beer delivered?
Yes. Tipsy sells wine and spirits and lists deliveries on its site, Market & More adds beer and wine to grocery orders, and Autentica sells a drinks bundle. Tipsy is open Monday to Saturday noon to 7pm, so order earlier in the day.
