Deep Tuesday at Ranchos Itauna
Ranchos Itauna is a beachfront restaurant and set of cabins on the sand in Playa Santa Teresa, with a Brazilian and international fusion kitchen. Its own page describes Deep Tuesday and Saturday SoundLab as its two main weekly events, with music "flowing until sunset and transforming the night." Resident and international DJs play a range that starts with downtempo, deep house, lounge and chillout and builds toward tech house, minimal and techno. There is a bonfire, and fire shows performed by local artists. The Facebook page calls it a weekly day beach party, and the Instagram posts call it a sunset party for family and friends.
That tells you the shape of the night. Early, it is cocktails, caipirinhas and slow deep house while the sun drops. After the light goes, the music tightens and the bonfire becomes the centre of the beach. Plan to arrive at 4pm or 4:30pm, and treat 10pm as a reasonable time to head home rather than the time to show up.
What it costs: I have not seen a published door price, and the venue does not advertise one. You pay for what you drink and eat. Cocktails on this strip run $10 to $14, a beer $3 to $5, with 13% tax and 10% service added. A guest booking can change that, so message first.
Who it suits: people who like their dance music with the sea in front of them, couples, small groups, and anyone who wants the one standing weekly party in town that starts before dark. It is less suited to a crowd that wants a dark room and a sound system at 1am.
Check it in October. Ranchos' own page says the beachfront restaurant is open from November to September, which points to a closure in October. If it is closed, Rocamar and a good dinner make the same evening.

Sunset on a Tuesday
The sun sets between about 5:15pm and 5:45pm all year. Ranchos is the Tuesday answer if you want music with it.
If you want the swings, Rocamar is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Monday. It sits at the north end of the beach down the Rocamar road, with swings and daybeds facing the break. Expect $10 to $14 for a cocktail, $4 to $5 for a beer, and a minimum spend of about $15 per person for a lounger. It is a sunset bar and winds down early, so arrive by 4:45pm. Banana Beach next door has live music and a bonfire most evenings and is open until 1am.
Brukas, the hilltop restaurant above Mal Pais with the widest sunset view on the coast, is back on the table Tuesday after its Monday closure. It opens at 5pm, has a steep rutted access road that needs a quad or a taxi that knows it, and suits a group. Book by WhatsApp from December to April. More options are in the sunset spots guide.
Dinner on a Tuesday
Tuesday is the easiest night of the week to get a table, and nearly everything is open.
La Cevicheria is the one dinner to eat if you have a single night: five styles of ceviche and patacones in a plain room on the main road, a large ceviche about $18. It is closed Sundays, so Tuesday works. No view, no fuss.
Katana is dinner only, 5:30pm to 10pm, in a garden 600 metres north of the Playa Carmen crossroads. Asian fusion with pad thai, gyoza, butter chicken and rolls. Expect $15 to $25 a person before drinks. It is the booking residents make first.
Amici runs 5:30pm to 10pm daily with wood oven pizza and house made pasta at $17 to $27 a pizza. Convivio on Calle Buenos Aires is the upscale table at $35 to $55 a person with drinks. Osa, open 4pm to 10pm, builds its menu around the daily catch with mains around $15 to $25.

A late option, and La Pasion
There is no dependable late party on a Tuesday now. Tikiliano keeps its late hours, until about 2:30am, from Wednesday to Saturday, and on Tuesday it is open 6pm to 10pm, so it is a drink rather than a dance floor. Kooks Smokehouse and Bar closes at 10pm. Goma, the small bar behind Kooks with room for about 30, closes around 1am if it is open.
La Pasion, the cocktail and music speakeasy under Koji's on the Buenos Aires road, used to be the Tuesday club. It went quiet after April 2026 and Google lists it as permanently closed. If you saw it recommended in an older post, check @clublapasion before you plan a night around it. I would not.

A quieter alternative
Drift is a restaurant, bar, deli market and art gallery in central Santa Teresa. The bar is open daily from 4pm to 10pm, later on nights with live music or a special event. A cocktail runs $12 to $15 and the specials board posts 2 for 1 deals. It is a stop for a drink and a snack that closes at 10pm, so use it as the second half of a Tuesday that began at Rocamar. Tikiliano, open 6pm to 10pm on Tuesday, is the other low key bar, with a long tiki cocktail list at $14 to $18.
Or skip bars entirely. A long dinner, a walk on the beach under a lot of stars if the sky is clear, and bed by 9:30pm is a very good Tuesday. The live music guide lists acoustic nights, which turn up midweek with little notice.
Getting there and home
Ranchos Itauna is on Playa Santa Teresa itself, so it is walkable from a stay in the central strip, a short taxi from Mal Pais or Playa Hermosa. The walk back is where it goes wrong: the road is dirt, unlit in stretches, and the late crowd is not on foot.
There is no Uber or Bolt in Santa Teresa. Ask Ranchos or your hotel to call a taxi, or arrange a pickup in advance, and agree the fare before you get in. A short in town hop is roughly $10 to $15. If you rode a quad or scooter to the party, leave it where it is after drinking, take the taxi, and collect it in the morning. Taxis, Bolt and Uber and getting around without a car cover this, and best ATV rentals has the quad side. Costa Rica bans vehicles on beaches, so no one drives to a bonfire on the sand. Carry a headlamp, and read safety for the beach at night.
High season versus green season
From December to April, Ranchos says these events are the most attended of the week, and Tuesday fills with travellers, retreat groups and a good share of residents. Come early for a spot near the fire, book dinner at Katana, and expect the rides home to be hard to find after 10pm.
In green season the party shrinks. When the weather is good it is a smaller beach, shorter bar lines and a crowd of regulars, which many residents prefer. When it rains, the sunset party is simply gone, and the bonfire may not be lit. October is when this is most likely, together with the possible closure noted above. Check before you cross town. If Tuesday is quiet
Some Tuesdays it is a few DJs and a handful of people watching the sun go down. That still makes a good evening: a drink, a fire, the sound of the surf. If the weather turns or Ranchos is closed, do the Rocamar and La Cevicheria Tuesday instead, and go to bed early. You are not missing a secret late scene, because there isn't one on this night.
